I'm a writer and editor with more than 12 years of experience as a journalist. Before going freelance, I worked as a general-assignment reporter, columnist, copy-editor and proofreader.
I began my journalism career as a reporter and columnist for Lerner Publications, in Chicago, and worked as an associate editor of Pullution Engineering magazine and later as the managing editor of Chef magazine.
My work has been awarded 11 writing prizes by the National Newspaper Association, the Illinois Press Association and the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association. I've won awards in a wide range of categories, including in-depth news reporting, feature writing and science and technology reporting.
I've been published in Writer's Digest, Cape Cod Life, Chef, Illinois Issues, HomeStyle, Fancy Food and Culinary Products and many other magazines and newspapers.
I received my bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Boston College, and my master's from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. I majored in political science as an undergraduate and studied international politics and economics as a graduate student.
As a freelance writer and editor, I provide content for magazines, newspapers, web sites and newsletters. I'm also available to compose, edit and proofread technical documents, resumes, grant proposals, business communications and academic theses. I work by the hour or by the job.
